Ashley and Brett Engagement Portraits

Such a sweet couple! It was a fun engagement shoot.  They were so natural in front of the camera, and were great people to work with.  I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next month! Congratulations Ashley and Brett! :)

Welcome, Olivia!

I had the amazing opportunity to shoot my first newborn session!!! Olivia was only 6 days old when her mommy brought her into the studio for her first photo shoot! She is such a beautiful baby girl! I absolutely fell in love with her from the moment I saw her!  Hopefully, I’ll be able to shoot more of her in the future!

It was a learning experience for me, as a photographer.  I’ve shot babies in the past, but not a newborn.  In the photography world there is a difference between an infant shoot and a newborn shoot.  For a photo session to be considered a “newborn” shoot, the baby has to be within the first 10 days of life.  Any older than that, it would be considered an infant shoot.  That 10 day period of new life is golden for photographs!  The babies are still nice and squishy! After babies reach that 10 day mark they tend to be more aware and alert, making it more difficult to get that nice sleepy image you’re going for.  And patience is a major factor to have during newborn sessions!

So, now I officially am obsessed with newborn photography! It is definitely something I want to specialize in in the future! So if you are pregnant, hit me up! I’d love to photograph your baby!

Special thanks to Amanda Toney, Cassandra McElroy, Olivia Valezquez, Lindsey Henson, GTC studio, Amanda Garner (my advice giver), Kathy (other advice giver & equipment checker outer), and Barbara Westmoreland (my assistant) for making the photoshoot possible!

Commercial Shots from this week

Internship with Scott Greene

Well, it is that time for my internship! Out of my top 3 choices, I was lucky enough to get my #1 choice!  Ladies and Gents I’m proud to announce that I have my internship with Scott Greene of Scott Greene Photography! Yay! He is from Jefferson, Georgia which works for me.  Brannan, my fiance, lives in Jefferson and when we get married we will be living in either Jackson County or Hall County.   A lot of my classmates chose to intern with photographers in the Atlanta area, and that’s fine and dandy, but I know I won’t be around Atlanta much in the future.  I definitely do photography in the Atlanta area, but I decided it would be beneficial to stick around my roots for better chances of being hired in the future.  Not to mention, Scott is phenomenal!  Scott’s work is so elegant, technically correct, and beautiful!  I love his style and creativity!  Check him out at www.greeneworks.net!

I’ve been working with him for about a week now and we plan to shoot a bunch of weddings together this Spring! So if you are interested in hiring me for your wedding, keep checking in on my blog for new work! :)

Plastic Surgery

Hey guys, please keep my good friend in your prayers and thoughts over the next couple of weeks.  He will be traveling to Irvine, California to undergo surgery.  His name is Canon… Canon 30D.  He has been having some issues with his meter reading, and may need to get a transplant.  Hopefully they will just be able to fix him.

As far as I know he’s never been this far away from home, or from me.  This trip may be a bit scary for him.  We hang out all the time!  I hate it that I can’t be there with him through all of this.  I think I’m just going to tell him that he is going away on vacation.  I don’t think he could handle knowing he’ll be going under for plastic surgery!

Hang in there, little guy! I know you can make it! :)

Jesse :)

Jesse is my little cousin, who is growing up way too fast! She is a beautiful, smart, and sweet 9-year-old girl.  I love her soooo much!  We set up a shoot as a Christmas present for her family.  I hope you like them! Photojournalism Project

At the end of last semester, for our Photojournalism class, we had to do a multimedia project.  I chose to do mine on Kyle Sexton.  Kyle is a 23-year-old male who has been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome.  Usher Syndrome affects the eyes and the hears.  It all started when he was younger, with his hearing.  He had to have hearing aids at the age of 2.  Later on towards the early teenage years, his eyesight was getting poor.  Kyle is deaf, color blind, and partially blind.  What makes Kyle so special is that he does not let his disabilities disable him from living life to the fullest!  With minor adjustments, he hunts, fishes, drives, plays ball, ect… He even was doing Professional Bull Riding for a while there.  You name it, he does it!  His story is so interesting, that I was driven to learn more about his everyday life as well as his condition.

For more photos please visit the PhotoJournalism section of this blog… The multimedia video will be posted soon, but due to technical difficulties I beg that you be patient until it is on here! :)

Beats and Buildings

This week I got the chance to shoot Ant Da Ripper, or Anthony (as I call him).  Ant is an aspiring rap star in the Athens area.  I actually have been knowing him since middle school!  It was nice to catch up and update each other on the life that is passing by too quick.  It seems like it was only yesterday that Anthony was sitting behind me in English class, annoying me by persistently singing “Holler” by the Spice Girls.  I remember our entire eighth grade year his mouth had the song “Air Force One’s” on repeat!  Haha!  Nevertheless, he is still the great guy I remember.

We plan to set up more shoots in the future! So look out! :D
